It was 2007, in Heilbronn, Germany, when 22 year old policewoman Michele Kiesewtter was murdered. She had been in her patrol car with her partner on their lunch break when two people climbed into the back seat of the vehicle and shot both officers in the back, killing her and injuring her partner. Michele died instantly and her partner was injured. The subsequent investigation unearthed more than “just” a murder investigation. For years, Germany, Austria and France searched for a female serial killer with links to a variety of different cold cases dating all the way back to 1993. Ranging from murder, beaking and entering, car thefts and petty crimes. The only common link between those crimes was DNA evidence. You may be thinking: They have DNA, why can’t they find the Phantom? Well, listen to today’s episode to find out this uber crazy, and somewhat funny, tale of “The Phantom of Heilbronn”.
